Ahhhh, FALL finally found me in Florida today! I wore a light jacket for the first time since the spring and it felt so awesome. I am looking forward to fires in the fire-place and being outdoors without being so darn hot!
In the meantime, I was inspired by the actual winter for this months Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop featuring the Pining for Plaid kit for October. Each of the Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators on the hop took the monthly Paper Pumpkin kit and used the supplies to turn it into something different. If you would like more information about getting your own Paper Pumpkin, you can check it out HERE.
Maybe you made it here by way of Kimberly Morris’ blog or maybe you just started right here. Either way, welcome! We hope that you enjoy the projects and even make some on your own! So sit back, enjoy, and make sure you visit all of the blogs to check out what the other artists made for you!
This month’s kit, Pining for Plaid is ADORABLE! So adorable that I really didn’t want to cut into or use any of the parts and pieces because I wanted to have all of the sweet cards from the kit! Look how adorable they are:
Cute, right? So cute! So my challenge was, what leftovers would I have to use, that paired with the stamp set could make some more fun projects? Think…think…OH! I love the little snowflakes in this set and the Pool Party sequins are sparkly and fun. I pulled out some Pool Party cardstock and some snowflake dies (from the Seasonal Layers set).
I layered some Crumb Cake and Wood Textured DSP that I had stamped with the snowflakes from the Colorful Seasons stamp set and the itty bitty ones from the Paper Pumpkin stamp set. I love the layers and textures on this card, with the wood grain paper, stamped snowflakes AND the die cut ones…yumminess. I stamped the sentiment on the cutout piece from the kit’s shaker card top layer, that would likely just go in the trash.
That little box is chocked full of sweet treats, ready to gift with the card, or all by itself. I got the idea for this little box from my friend, Julie Dimatteo over at The Paper Pixie. You can find her tutorial HERE.
For you, the fun part is continuing on to the next person in this hop to see what they whipped up for you. So, without further delay, hop on over to the incredible Kelly Acheson for fabulous!
