Hello and happy Thursday!  Today is the second installment of a fun blog hop sharing alternative projects made with the Paper Pumpkin monthly kit supplies.  Paper Pumpkin is an awesome surprise in a box – and it’s delivered to your mailbox every month!  If you are new to Paper Pumpkin, you can find all of the details HERE.

Maybe you came here by way of my friend, Pam Staples, or you just started here.  Either way, we all hope that you enjoy the projects and make some of them yourself.  So sit back, enjoy, and make sure you visit all of the blogs to check out what the other artists made for you!

This month’s kit is titled “Sprinkled with Love”.  If you are in to donuts…oh my sweetness!  This kit is so adorable and if I am being honest, I was stumped a little on coming up with an alternate project.  I didn’t want to just make another card…so I decided to make something that could actually hold a donut so you could give it as a sweet treat to someone special!  My friend Martine, one of my favorite demonstrator friends, and I had a little brainstorming session about the things you could make with this kit.  She loves donuts so she had some great ideas!

I made a box that was approximately 1 1/2″ tall and 4 1/2″ square.  I used this great video from Stampin’ Up to figure out my box dimensions:

After using the formula that Donna shared in the video, my bottom cardstock piece was 7 1/2″ x 7 1/2″.

I used our new In Color, Powder Pink, as it seemed to match the donut icing PERFECTLY!

I made the top a little shorter than the box bottom so you could see the box base.  I wanted a 3/4″ lid height so my designer series paper (DSP) was cut to 6″ square.  I used a piece of the “Falling in Love” DSP which was so popular, it sold out!  But who knows, you may already have some on your shelf!

The rest of the packaging details were completed using the kit contents!  I cut one card base in half to create my donut topper.  I popped up the donut icing on dimensionals – because I love when things aren’t FLAT!  I cut apart one of the super adorable envelopes in the kit, making two 2″ strips, and used these to create a belly band for the box.  It all came together with a few wraps of the lovely gold twine that came in the kit.

The best part, this box is READY to put a donut inside!  I lined the inside of the box with a piece of the Sending Love Glassine sheets (on SALE right now!  check it out HERE!).

What do you think?  Could you give away a sweet treat along with your card?  I know a couple friends who would LOVE getting a donut, especially a Krispy Kreme one (a locals favorite in our town!).  It’s time to go see what my craft friend, Andrea, has planned for you.  Click the next button to see her creation now!
